COACHING NEWS
Badger Region Announces New Junior
Coaches Screeing Policy
Beginning this 2004-05 season, USAV/ROD
is now mandating a Background Screening Process for all adults involved with a Junior
Club. The complete policy and the coach's "Disclosure, Consent and Waiver
Release Form" are available on the "Form's" page of this webpage.
Badger Region Coaches Certification
Database
Attention Club Directors!! You can
use this link to the "05
Badger Region Coach Certification Document" to find out what the status is of our
coaches as of November 1, 2004. You can use this list to determine if your coach(es)
will need a background screening this season. Any coach who did not have a
background screening in winter of 2003 or anytime in 2004 will need to complete a
"Disclosure, consent and Waiver Release Form" (on forms page). This form
should be sent to the Region Office with the fee of $16 prior to or at the time of
registration. No coach may begin practice or sit on a bench at a tournament until
this requirement has been met.
We have attempted to condense our
complete data base to include only those coaches that have coached in the region during
the past few years. If a coach is not listed, contact the region office for
information on their status.
If you have any questions on this process,
read page 6 of your "Junior Club Director's Handbook"*.
IMPACT Certification
Click on the "Clinics" button on the upper left corner of this page for
the Impact Clinic schedule. Every junior coach must attend an Impact clinic.
IMPACT is Increased Mastery and Professional
Application of Coaching Theory. It is a one-half day course provided by trained
clinicians in Badger Region. Emphasis is on drill development, principles of
learning skills, resources, athlete safety, legal and moral responsibilities, and
ethics. It is the minimum requirement for any coach in the USAV Junior
Program. Courses are offered November through February of each season.
Impact Clinic Procedure
The cost of the Impact Plus certification is $30 (minimum 4 hour
curriculum & includes court time). The cost of the Impact certification (3 hour
curriculum) is $25. Reminder: Assisant Junior coaches that have not yet reached the
age of 18, who by region policy, must be accompanied by an Impact certified adult at all
times, are required to be Impact certified.
Clinics are scheduled in November, December and
January in various areas of the region. The schedule will indicate whether the
clinic is an Impact Plus clinic or simply an Impact clinic. Sent the completed
Impact Clinic Registration form (found on the Forms page) with payment to the region
office at least 10 days prior to the clinic date to allow time for the region office to
send materials to the Impact Clinician. The club director will receive an email
confirmation with site directions to distribute.
If an individual is unable to attend the clinic they have
registered for, they must contact the region office prior to the clinic to be reassigned
to another clinic. If an individual does not
show up for a clinic and the region office has not been notified, the club will forfeit
the registration fee. Emergency situations will be handled on an individual basis. A partial refund will be made if the Operations
Director considers an emergency situation appropriate.
